Get ready for your next position
A little preparation means we can match you faster and you can start your next assignment with confidence.
Keep your registration current
Make sure your registration or practice permit is active: BCCNM in BC, CRNA or CLHA in Alberta, or the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry for care aides.
Refresh your résumé
List each role with the care setting, unit, dates and main responsibilities. Put your most recent experience first.
Line up your references
Choose two recent supervisors who have seen your clinical work, and let them know we may call.
Gather your certificates
CPR or BLS, first aid and any other training, such as dementia care or medication administration, with expiry dates.
Start your records check
Health care aides and RNs need a current criminal record check for work with vulnerable adults. In BC this is done through the Criminal Records Review Program.
Know your availability
Be clear about the shifts, days, locations and travel you can take on. Honest availability leads to better matches.
Have these ready, but please do not send ID, SIN or banking information through the website. We will tell you how to share documents securely.
How to shine in your interview
Our recruiters want to see how you think, how you care and how you work with a team. These tips help you show it.
Use real examples with the STAR method
Describe the Situation, the Task, the Action you took and the Result. One clear story about a fall you prevented or a family you supported says more than a general answer.
Prepare for the common questions
Expect to talk about a difficult patient or resident, a time you caught an error, how you prioritize a heavy assignment and how you handle conflict on a team.
Know your scope of practice
Be ready to explain what your designation allows and when you would escalate to a nurse or physician. Safety-minded answers stand out.
Show how you put people first
Talk about dignity, choice and clear communication with residents and families. Facilities look for professionals who are kind as well as skilled.
Be honest about your experience
Tell us which settings you know well and which are new to you. Honesty helps us place you where you will succeed, with the right support.
Get set for phone and video calls
Find a quiet spot, check your connection and keep your résumé in front of you. Smile, speak clearly and give yourself a moment before answering.
Ask good questions
Ask about orientation, the facility, typical assignments and how we support you between shifts. It shows you are serious and helps you choose well.
Follow up promptly
Return calls and emails quickly, send requested documents on time, and a short thank-you note after your interview always leaves a good impression.
Registered Nurses
Acute, long-term care and community roles.
Licensed Practical Nurses
Residential, assisted living and hospital roles.
Health Care Aides
Long-term care, assisted living and home care roles.
An application does not guarantee employment or placement. Please leave government ID, banking information and patient details out of your application. Questions? recruitment@correctstaffing.ca
